Golda Meir was born in 3.5.1898 in Kiev, Russia.
She moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her family in 1906, there,
she graduated from teachers’ college and taught in the public schools.
In 1915, she joined the Labor Zionist Party. In 1917, she married Morris
Meyerson and they moved to Tel Aviv in 1921. Later they became the proud parents of Sarah and Menachem.
In March 7th, 1969, Golda Meir was nominated by the Labor Party to be Prime Minister of Israel.
She was Minister of Labor from 1949 to 1956, a position which was her personal favorite.
On the death of Levi Eshkol in 1969, the party factions, in a compromise, chose
her as prime minister.
Before Golda Meir became Prime Minister from1969-1974, she was the Foreign Minister for Israel from 1956 to 1965.
One of the hardest days in the life of Golda Meir was October 6, 1973 – the beginning of
the Yom Kippur War. It was a great tragedy for Golda Meir. In June, 1974, Golda Meir
