?One?s greatest enemy is like saying you are your worst enemy?. The book by John Knowls ?A Seprate Peace? to me the statement seems to be true because about ?one?s greatest enemy?. The two people that choose is Finny and Gene because they seem to be the best people to use.
When Gene thought that finny was doing all of those thing like the super suicide club at first Gene did not care but doing the leap every night Gene started thinking about quiting.It is ironic that Gene did not have any time to study his test so Gene would blame everything on Finny when Gene failed a test for the first time. Gene approves for the statement ?One?s greatest enemy? because that time when Gene climbed the tree after Finny and took all of his anger and all of his emotion and jounced the limb that Gene and Finny were going to jump off together and Gene pretend to help Finny but finny fell on the ground and shattered his leg.Gene did not want him to hurt Finny at all just to scare Finny but instead Gene made finny never to play football ever again.
It is Ironic that all Gene wanted to do was to scare Finny but ended up hurting Finnys leg and he is good at athledic things like swimming and a new game that they created that Finny is good at. I think that there is a lot of foreshadowing because Finny breaks his leg in the beginning and at the end of the book.
The auther John Knowles was trying to prove that Finny and Gene were friends all along and that they would always be friends. They also thought that they would be friends to the end and that even the greatest enemies could not bring Gene and finny apart.
