poetic devices brilliantly. Owen’s distinct relation of the loud noises of war, with the
quiet sombre feel of a funeral is one of the essential concepts in this sonnet. The reader
can definitely visualise the scenes captured in the poem by imagining the sounds Owen
describes at great lengths. Anthem for Doomed Youth is one of those poems which
