Growing up in America one tends to have a different outlook on life and the way families communicate. People in our everyday life can tell others what they are thinking and not have to worry about how they are going to present the problem. Families in America communicate differently, sometimes the children rebel against their parents and the adults accept the fact and move on with life. There is a different respect for family life in our culture. The Chinese culture also has a traditional family life. However when we think of the Chinese one tends to think of how well they treat their parents and family members. I know see that sometimes it is not always like we think it of their culture. In the movie ?Eat Drink Man Woman? this family are as messed up as any American family. It is hard to describe, it seemed like everyone lead their own life and did not tell any other family member what was going on in their life. However they all lived at home and all ate dinner together, which the amount of food there was grossly obscene, those four people could not eat all of that! In all honesty this movie reminded me a Soap Opera. Girls getting pregnant and leaving home, another person getting married and keeping it a secret, another person wants to leave home to better her life, but thinks it would others too much. And lastly the old man having a secret love affair for a younger woman, whose mother is in love with the old man. It all sounds very twisted, but very interesting. And the food, all these people did was eat and have sex, eat and sex, eat and sex. I very much enjoyed the movie it showed that other cultures have the same scenario as we do in America. I do not say problem, like most people want to, because I do not believe for it to be a problem. People can lead the type of life that they want to, who am I to tell them what to do or how to live their life.
