Summary.
Lucent technologies last months seemed to be the worst of the company’s history. Now shareholders are questioning the new C.E.O’s, Henry Schacht, strategy in order to revitalize the company’s economy. During the last year Lucent’s shares dropped from 52.75 $ to 11.60 $ a share. As it appears people are now blaming the company’s officials for that fall. They are also thinking about cutting back on jobs and reducing the cost production.
Reaction.
The company is now in a free fall since last year. The officials are trying by all means to break that fall and to reduce its repercussions. The latest the came up with is to cut jobs again and to lower the production costs. That will implicate lower resources, in other words, cheaper materials and cheaper labor. Consequently prices of outputs will decrease in order to maximize sales and profits. On the other hand the quantity of the outputs will decrease also, as the prices are low. That job cut will result in unemployment as the laid off workers will loose income, these people won’t be able to consume any good or services as their money resources became limited. Also maybe that situation will leave space to other companies to expand and to become a direct concurrent to Lucient which will directly make the output better and the price more reasonable.
