At this time, everyone considered the women to be of lesser quality and inferior to men. The church told women to be obedient to their fathers and their husbands. But, there life was different from that. Most of them had to do work for a living. Especially the peasant women who trailed alongside of he husband. They also had to provide clothing and food for the family. However, if the women were of the next higher social order, which is craftsman and tradesmen. The daughters and even wives of the craftsmen and tradesmen were usually sent to a guild or were employed as tradeswomen. Conversely, wealthy women had say in her husbands affairs and took care of huge households. But, the wealthy women still had very little say when it came to national events.
