Clock making was a sideline job for
gold smiths. making clocks involved
almost no tools. They used just a hammer
a file and a drill. But it also took a lot of thinking and a lot of time. Some colonial
clocks had wooden gears because
brass was hard to get. When brass was available they used it to make plates.
He would file and polish the gears.

that when you oil and clean the clock
gears they worked a lot better.
