Stephen Hawking is a hero to me for the inspiration which he has provided for many
disabled people. The modesty that Hawking has about his brilliance. And the controversial
statements that are evident in many of his theories.
Even after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease in 1963, Stephen Hawking continued
with his pursuit of a PhD in cosmology. While most people might have given up on such high
expectations, Hawking claims to owe his determination and strong will to live to his first wife, Jane
Wilde. “What really made a difference was that I got engaged to a woman named Jane Wilde. This
