Dracul

Vlad became quite known for his brutal punishment techniques; he often ordered people to be skinned, boiled, decapitated, blinded, strangled, hanged, burned, roasted, hacked, nailed, buried alive, stabbed, etc. He also liked to cut off noses, ears, sexual organs and limbs. But his favorite method was impalement on stakes, hence the surname “Tepes” which means “The Impaler” in the Romanian language. (1)

What is the topic?

Kurt W. Treptow s Dracula: Essays on the Life and Times of Vlad Tepes entails the power struggle between plethoras of medieval feudal societies. Dracula was prince of Wallachia, one of three Romanian providences. As a prince he sought to power and to control his kingdom, power is what the societies in the feudal age fought for. They fought for power to gain land, maintain honor, and to loot weaker or neighboring kingdoms. His or her primary way to gain power was by making someone pay for fighting authority, his favorite method was impalement on stakes, (1) which psyched out the opponents into thinking that resisting Dracula s power was stupid and punishable by death.

How is the Topic Demonstrated?

Vlad Tepes was a man known throughout his land for his fierce insistence on honesty and order (1) his reign was one of terror and military strategy, The Impaler s method of impaling people not only scared the oncoming troops, but made them look toward his troops with much trepidation and apprehension. If they were a captured as prisoners of was the might suffer the same grizzly death as those lying before them on the stakes or be left to live the rest of their lives without certain body parts. During Vlad s long reign as king his crown was almost never unchallenged.
